Xtool D8 Scan Tool Reviews

Posted on December 24, 2024 by VCDS

Here have collected some newest reviews of Xtool D8 Automotive Scan Tool in 2023.

Review 1: Very capable tool.

This xtool d8 is my first proper diagnostic tool, aside from basic code readers. It is very capable and enables me to do things that typically require a visit to the dealership. With this tool, I can read the manufacturer-specific codes, not just generic OBD2 codes. I can also tweak things like lighting, seatbelt chime, and unlock functions. I can run the ABS pump to properly bleed brakes. I can initialize newly installed parts, like throttle position sensors. And I believe I can now program keys. I’ve yet to explore all of its capabilities, but it’s already proved to be valuable.

Review 2: Impressive tool for the home mechanic (or more)

This D8 scan tool paid for itself on its first use. I have a Subaru that needed the transmission to be re-calibrated. This tool allowed me to complete that successfully just like a dealer would have done. I have also used it on Lexus, Ford, and Toyota to check and test specific components. Very happy so far and the free updates are awesome! Battery life has been great for my purposes and it can read codes from many manufacturers across the globe.

Review 3: Great auto scanner!

This D8 is a very good auto scanner. I bought it after much research and upon the positive review of the “car care nut” on youtube. He is my go to guy for all things Toyota. The scanner lives up to all the positive reviews. I have had a chance to use it and it is well worth the money if you are a pro or an advanced DIY. Works with about all OBD2 autos.

Review 4: Great tech support

I hooked the d8 up to my c5 corvette and when I tried to go to the special functions–bcm/rpo reprogram, the d8 crashed. I sent tech support a message and after providing some information they created a software update, pushed it to my d8 and after installing the update i was able to do my bcm/rpo reprogramming. Couldn’t ask for better service than that.

Review 5: Best bang for the buck

Granted it’s not a Snap-On, but you won’t have to sell a kidney to buy it. Works on my 2007 Mustang, 2015 Infiniti QX80 and 2018 Grand Cherokee as well as all of my friends’ cars. Very frequent updates, almost to the point of being an annoyance, but it’s actually a good thing.

Review 6: Great value for the level of functioning

After much research I purchased the XTOOL D8 Automotive Diagnostic Scan Tool. I am very pleased with the purchase. I have used it repeatedly on 2009 Toyota Sienna, 2010 Toyota Rav4 and 2019 Toyota Camry. I was able to read and correct codes on the older cars and also narrow down some fueling issues from the live data feed and actuator tests. The transmission fluid temperature monitoring and fluid condition is especially helpful for replacing fluid in sealed transmission. I enjoy using this on older model cars to improve the driveability, safety and fuel mileage. Saved myself a ton of money by using this tool to do simple and more involved repairs at home.

Review 7: Very Pleasantly Surprised!

I purchased this Xtool d8 to perform a special function on our Honda Accord. I really liked the tool when I first used it, but couldn’t get it to do what I had hoped. I sent customer support a quick email to see if they could help me. They promptly responded telling me exactly what I needed and the d8 worked like a champ. Honda is running great with newly synced ecu! Could not be more pleased with Xtool!!
