Q1: Do I need to replace the replacement chip again when switching back to the MLB?
A: This chip is used to replace the original chip in the MLB main unit. Once replaced, it will work with the information collector. You can discard the original chip; there’s no need to keep it.
Q2: Are Bonus Points required for the MQB48?
A: No, no points are required to collect MQB48 immobilizer data.
Q3: Is it compatible with the Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus Pad (paired with the MLB Tool) or only with VVDI2?
A: It is compatible with both VVDI2 and Key Tool Plus.
Note: Tablets with a single Type-C port may have poor power stability, which can lead to longer collection times and lower success rates. We strongly recommend using a device with better power stability.
Q4: Why does it only work with Xhorse VVDI2 and not with the VVDI Key Tool Plus?
A: It works with both VVDI2 and Key Tool Plus.
Q5: Do I need to remove all the same capacitors?
A: You only need to remove one capacitor and solder it back in place.
Q6: If I purchase a new VVDI MLB tool, will it already have the new chip, or do I still need to replace it?
A: You will still need to replace the chip.
Q7: Why doesn’t the MLB tool work with MQB48 on the Xhorse Key Tool Plus?
A: It can work with Key Tool Plus to collect data, but using a PC is recommended for better performance.
Q8: Will modifying the MLB void its warranty?
A: No, it will not.
Q: Does it support all MQB48 keys, including proximity, bladed, and digital cluster keys?
A: It depends on the key type. Check the wiring diagram in the software. If the key’s circuit board matches the wiring diagram, it will work.
Q: Can I simply generate the correct remote using the app and then write the data to the key?
A: The Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool only calculates the immobilizer data. You’ll still need VVDI2 or VVDI Key Tool Plus to generate the dealer key and program the key.
