New CAV DPA and DPS fuel injection pumps which will automatically eliminate air from the pump have been introduced on some engines. These pumps have a vent pipe (A1) fitted between the top of the pump and the atomiser leak-off pipe. Vent screws are not fitted to these pumps and connections or plugs need not be released to eliminate air from the pump.
