This guide outlines the steps to perform a Low Temperature ATD (Aftertreatment Diagnostic) Performance Test on a Detroit DDEC16 DD15 GHG17 engine.

Steps to Run the Test:
Access the Service Routine
Navigate to the DPF System window, then select Service Routines. From the drop-down menu, choose Run Performance Test – Low Temperature ATD.
Start the Routine
Once started, the engine speed will automatically increase to 1250 RPM.
Monitor Coolant Temperature
As the engine warms up, observe the coolant temperature. Once it reaches 50°C (126°F), engine braking will engage at 100% PWM.
Warm-up Phase
Continue monitoring as the engine warms up further. When the DOC inlet temperature reaches 270°C (518°F), the HC (Hydrocarbon) injection system will turn on. The system will conduct a safety test without actually injecting HC. The Fuel Metering Injection status will briefly go to 100%, then return to 0% for the remainder of the routine.
Check SCR Service Routine Panel
Open the SCR Service Routine panel to observe the temperatures at the following points:
DOC Inlet
DOC Outlet
DPF Outlet
SCR Inlet (calculated based on the 1-BOX DPF outlet and SCR outlet)
SCR Outlet
These temperatures should range from medium to high, around 375°C (700°F).
Temperature Stabilization
Allow the system to stabilize. Within 25-30 minutes, compare the readings from all temperature sensors. They should be within 27°C (45°F) of each other. If any values are outside this range, it could indicate a sensor drift.
Completion
The service routine will automatically end after 30 minutes.
This process ensures that the engine is running within optimal parameters and that the temperature sensors are functioning correctly.
